Bridal Shower Speech
The Bridal Shower Speech...
This is a great way to put your bridal shower over-the-top
and make sure it's remembered and talked about for years to come!
And this doesn't require
running to 5 stores or spending a single dime...but I guarantee it will
be the most memorable moment of the shower!
What To Say
Keep it short, 3-4 minutes max. Concentrate on the Bride, her marriage, and what her
friendship has meant to you. The best thing to do is get out a pen and paper and write
down answers to the following questions:
- 5 words that come to mind when you think of BRIDE as a wife
- Your first thoughts when she told you she was getting married
- What her friendship has meant to you
- Why you think she'll be a wonderful wife
Once you get this on paper, the ideas will start flowing. The only problem you'll have is how
to fit everything into 3 minutes!
Add A Poem
If words are escaping you, use a love quote or marriage poem in your speech. Who said you have to
write the whole speech from scratch?
What Not To Say
Consider who will be at the shower. If this is co-ed, don't mention ex-boyfriends. If mom and grandma
will be there, keep the x-rated stories for the bachelorette party. And when in doubt...leave it out!
When To Say It
You can greet the guests with your speech, or have them raise their glasses when they sit to eat.
Anytime is
appropriate, but if you wait too long, some of the guests may start leaving before you get the chance.
If You Get Nervous...
If you know you'll be nervous, keep the speech very short, don't have more than one cup of champagne punch before
speaking, and remember:
- Practice your speech. (But have a copy of your speech in case you need it.)
- Speak in your normal voice, and avoid unnatural hand gestures or fake accents.
- Speak clearly and don't rush.
Make A Copy
Make a copy of your speech for the Bride -- she's going to want to keep it!
Professional Help
Ok, so writing a speech may not be your cup of tea, but if it's important to you to speak anyway, consider
having a ghostwriter write it for you.
